Known as Dummella in native Sinhala, this species belonging to the gourd family is now extinct in the wild. Although popularly recorded as endemic to Sri Lanka, its native range is sometimes mentioned to include Myanmar. It’s a rare medicinal plant that grows primarily in the wet tropical biome. Dummella was entered into Sri Lanka’s national red list in 2020.
